The Boathouse is the most requested guestroom at The Point and is usually the first to be booked. It is an airy, open hall above the boats and water where a lofty, beamed ceiling vaults over a story-book canopied bed in the very center of the room. An immense fireplace of native stone anchors the great open space at one end; panoramic views over Upper Saranac Lake to the mountains beyond fill the wide windows. Alcoves hold a fully stocked bar, table for two, numerous sitting areas and a quiet spot for a mid-afternoon nap. Outside, on the wrap-around deck, two twin beds are suspended from the ceiling; their gentle sway mimics the feel of a canoe on calm waters. In the Boathouse’s spectacular bathroom, a soaking tub-for-two and a rock-walled shower exemplify camping out, Great Camp-style. Available May through October.
